Statues from sculpture symposiums
It is thanks to Uherský Brod Town Hall and the initiative of Councillor dr. Antonín Karásek that sculpture symposiums have been held in Uherský Brod since 2003. Visitors can see how a piece of stone is brought to life at the hands of the artists, and becomes a sculpture.
Uherský Brod also has what in a certain sense is a wholly unique art exhibition – a gallery of monumental sculptures of lasting importance. All the works are installed in highly visible parts of the town and have thus become an integral and characteristic feature. The Uherský Brod sculpture symposium is unique in that it presents the work of the very finest names in contemporary sculpture. It is worth noting, however, that anyone can join in. The way it works is that one of the sculptors from the previous year nominates another two colleagues.
The professional guarantor of all the symposiums in previous years is Doctor Ludvík Ševeček, Director of the Regional Gallery of Fine Arts in Zlín in 1989–2009.
